How ironic is that computer analogy?

The PC is a standard, and in practice is infinitely variable. It exists in a free market of competing implementations where the user rules.

The Mac is a sealed entity under total corporate control. You can only have the Mac that Apple decides you will have. Mac users imagine themselves free, while they are slaves to Steve Jobs.

I suspect the analogy is more appropriate than the author believes.
