I was informed of te media project on the 18th afternoon and duly submitted the application that same day at about 5pm Malaysian time.

The project I am applying for funds for is one that aims to educate the Orang Asli of Malaysia , the indigenous tribe who , like the Penan of Sarawak prefer to stay with a lifestyle followed for centuries. Namely, in the rainforest. Unfortunately, poachers, animal smugglers and the like use some of these great jungle people to obtain information to trap or kill various species of animals, many of them endangered.
My government has marginalised them to a large extent . I feel very strongly that my initiative to educate them on the need for conservation,and to teach basic communication computer skills to form a network and teach them English and Malay would go a very, very long way to drastically reduce animal poaching by more than 80% within 3 years.

With seed money of usd 50K I can set up several centers in the important camps where the orang asli are located, and as I am with the Malaysian Nature Society, Malaysia, I remain confident that I will be able to make the project self suataining through donations , local and international , give media coverage and obtain the governments blessings. My CV shall be sent in more than a few hours because the thumb drive is at home about 200 km away .This is an initiative that has no precedent in my country.
