SocialMedian: New ways to share and discover relevant news

This spring we noted the launch and alpha testing of SocialMedian, a new link aggregator that five months ago looked something like a more social version of delicious or Diigo. It has been undergoing continuous development since then – and the newest release should be especially noteworthy for bloggers, researchers, journalists, marketers and activists. If you need to track news on specific topics, companies or causes, socialmedian may help.

It’s yet another tool to help aggregate and discover relevant news and information. Use it to collect clips and to find relevant clips recommended by people with similar interests. I’ve found it somehwhat helpful, although its new integration with Google Reader doesn’t thrill me since I’m still using Netvibes for my RSS feeds. This may be one more reason to switch to Google, although I prefer the Nevibes experience.

More from Mashable on SocialMedian: “It’s like Digg, Google Reader and FriendFeed all mashed up together.” If that’s gobble-de-gook to you, don’t bother with it. SocialMedian has enough options and screen clutter to be challenging even if you know what that means. But if you do, and you’re looking for a new and better way to share and discover news and information, SocialMedian is worth a try. For an explanation of what’s new, I’d start with the company blog, which has more current info than the service’s FAQ.
