Buenos Aires: Exploring the regional impact of We Media

Note: Guillermo is our Buenos Aires director and led the organization and production of our We Media Regional Summit, Oct. 14-15, 2008.

Here in Argentina we always speak about our globally connected society. But when we say “global” maybe not all of us are thinking about the impact that new technologies are having in countries that are far away. The need to move the We Media conversation around the world appeared naturally as a way to explore, learn and inspire how technology and the power of the connected culture is changing life around the world.

The idea for regional We Media meetings like this took several years to bring to life. I first learned about We Media in 2005 when I saw Andrew at an Inter-American Press Association conference in Indianapolis; and we really started down this path with a short conversation with Dale at We Media London in 2006.

Our We Media Buenos Aires Regional Summit next week will include Josh Cohen from Google News, John Bell from Ogilvy PR, Steve Herrmann from The BBC and many others; but the most remarkable thing will be the local flavor that will be covered by more than 20 speakers. For the first time a We Media regional summit event will explore deeply the regional and local aspects of how “the power of us” is slowly but firmly reaching every corner of the planet and changing everything, everywhere.
