Jeff Greenfield: Why does TV matter to blog readers?
Jake Tapper: I see wired readers as an opportunity–I wish we could broadcast my reports 1:20 and send them straight to phones..I find the paper boring. I read it every day, but I don’t think the newspaper business is adapting–but I think broadcast can-that’s why I came to TV, there are so many more opportunities there.
Brian More: Yes, but what you do as a reporter out there is exactly what newsgatherers do–edit information and try to create some understanding. I just don’t buy the construct it is either or.
Greenfield: Will readers buy the cow if the milk is free? Do websites cannabalizr newspapers?
Ed Horowitz: I would like to earn the right to be your blogger by generating content of interest. The purpose of the electronic version of our next line of business is to have a conversation with our clients in a unique and continuous way.
Tom Wolzien: How do you take this dying off newpspaper population and morph kids over to the newspaper brands?
Rheingold: There’s another theme here–As a citizen, as well as an consumer, there is an important role for journalism in maintain a free republic..that has to be balanced with maintaining market share.
Sandy Close: Some aspects of print media are exploding–zines and ethnic media are growing–we need to remember that.
