Farai Chideya:
There is no real separation of the media anymore.
Tom Curley (AP):
Images (and audio) provided by citizens … Serves up the f-word before breakfast (something John Feinstein did on Saturday during the Navy football broadcast!) … Competitive challenges and WHO owns the rights.
Larry Kramer (CBS):
CBS has recently revamped its website (www.cbs.com) … Public Eye to get citizen involvement in a national television environment … provide news in a loop … people react, respond … a vehicle by which people can communicate with CBS News … could lead to something bigger CBS is missing … Because of mass audience, needs to be more filtered; a responsibility to what’s posted … a filter, a moderator … You can see it on the front of the site … Looking for intelligent discourse on the news of the day … on the website, on the network news, on all of the CBS news programs … We believe that conversation with the general public makes us better reporters … Make ourselves more available to the public when the have news … Why? To tell stories.
Richard Sambrook (BBC):
If we don’t embrace these changes (the greatest in 25 years), we’ll lose our audience … social media … 7th of July bombs … actually led next day with camera phone and footage from the public … We don’t own the news anymore.
