Tipping Point live blog con’t.

Andrew is talking now about access and connectivity. Ten billion people will be connected in the next ten years.

  • access and connectivity
  • knowing and discovery (how do we apply knowl that is at our fingertips?)
  • transacting — power of people as in ebay, but also power of advertising is changing especially in the balance of local and global

Social capital is of interest, so Dale talks about a Zogby We Media Poll that provides context because they have done this over time.

  • 2/3 think traditional journalism is “out of touch”
  • 70% think journalism is important to the quality of life in their communities
  • 48% said Internet is their principal source of news and information
  • 86% of people think web sites key for info
  • 77% TV
  • 74% radio
  • 70 %newspapers
  • 38%  blog

This is not pessimistic, but shows hope. Though institutions like journalism are not trusted, people see their value. So there is opportunity embedded in what we see. We are now fully digital. It is the main format or medium for commerce, journalism, news, communication. The data will be available on the website later.
